What if your hamster has an emergency... and you can't wait for a vet?
I have a hamster first aid kit for worst case scenarios. I will list what is in it, so hopefully you can make one, too. It all should fit in a tote bag, or another kind of bag.

List of Exotic Vets in your area- You want to be ready for when your hamster is sick or injured.

Q-tips- To apply topical mediation. To clean eyes or ears if there could be infection. To clean blood.

Rubber Gloves- To lower the risk of contamination of open wounds.

Small, Clean Towel- To help squirming animals. To clean large amount of blood.

mL syringe- For oral medications. To help weak animals drink.

Fine Tweezers- For removing foreign objects.

Hot Water Bottle- Hamsters lose body heat quickly. This will help.

Baby Nail Clippers- To clip nails if they are causing lacerations.

Antihistamine Lotion- Just incase your hamster is stung by a bee.

Gauze- Stops blood flow. Cleans blood from wounds. Wraps temporarily.

Olive Oil- Used for constipated hamsters.

Pedialyte- Helps dehydration.

Water- To wash down pedialyte.

Manuka Honey- for cuts and scabs.

Pure Organic Aloe- cuts, burns, and abrasions.

Heating Pad- Hamsters lose body heat quickly. This will help.

Eyelash comb/ Eyebrow brush- For cleaning messy fur.

Chlorhexidine- disinfects wounds.

Fresh Thyme- Many reasons, such as respiratory problems, cuts, scabs, etc.
